I am currently Assistant Professor of Political Science at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX. Prior to OLLU, I taught at the College of Wooster and St. Olaf College. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and my B.A. in Political Science from the University of Southern California .
My current research focuses on the political representation of Latinxs in the United States, with a specific focus on Latinx representation in the United States Congress. I am especially interested in the efforts by political coalitions such as the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Congressional Hispanic Conference to represent the interests of the Latinx community at various stages of the legislative process.
My broader research agenda touches on other facets of Latinx politics, including Latinx public opinion and identity formation, as well as broader issues regarding the role of race and ethnicity in American politics
